ICT DEPARTMENT

Aims of the ICT Department

ICT prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world in which work and other activities are increasingly transformed by access to varied and developing technology.

Students use ICT tools to find, explore, analyse, exchange, and present information responsibly, creatively, and with discrimination. They learn how to employ ICT to enable rapid access to ideas and experiences from a wide range of people, communities, and cultures.

Increased capability in the use of ICT promotes initiative and independent learning, with students being able to make informed judgements about when and where to use ICT to best effect, and to consider its implications for home and work both now and in the future.

  • To provide pupils and staff with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to use the ICT facilities in order to develop and enhance their work throughout the school.
  • To work with subject areas in order to help them to develop opportunities for pupils to use ICT in their solution to problems.
  • To provide pupils with the training that they require throughout Key Stage 3 to become autonomous users of ICT at KS4.
  • To nurture pupils' natural enthusiasm for ICT and encourage them to utilise their skills to enhance their learning and presentation.
  • To co-ordinate the provision for and the use of Information and communications technology throughout the school.
  • To monitor and assess pupils' experience of ICT throughout the curriculum.

To prepare pupils for a world in which the use of ICT is commonplace.
