The department works to fulfil and endorse the Mission Statement of the college. The specific aims of the department are to enable students to:
Develop their own mathematical knowledge and oral, written and practical skills in a manner which encourages confidence, enjoyment and perseverance.
Apply mathematics to everyday situations and develop an understanding of the part which mathematics plays in the world around them.
Develop an ability to apply mathematics to other subjects, particularly science and technology.
Produce and appreciate imaginative and creative work arising from mathematical ideas.
